Announcement of 2025 Elections for the Board of the Society of Nineteenth Century Historians

According to the Society of Nineteenth Century Historians’ Constitution, elections for the Board will take place in the following manner:

The election of new officers will be announced 60 days before the annual Sachsman Symposium on the Nineteenth Century Press opens through an email to members of the Society of Nineteenth Century Historians and a notice on the Society of Nineteenth Century Historians webpage. The election will occur at the Symposium each fall with members of the Society of Nineteenth Century Historians (only) voting either in person or through a Google drive ballot for those attending via Zoom. To vote, members of the Society must attend the meeting. Although members of the Society must be present at the meeting, they are not required to present a paper at the symposium to vote either in person or online.

Members of the Society are currently defined as those present at the Sachsman Symposium on the Nineteenth Century Press at the time of the election.

All candidates must be members of the Society of Nineteenth Historians to run for office. They may serve consecutive terms without limit.

The list of nominated officers will be posted online, but members of the Society may nominate additional candidates at the election, which will occur during the Symposium. Those attending online may also nominate new candidates from the floor. All candidates must accept the nomination to be considered for the office.

Any referenda, proclamation, or other item must be added to the ballot only after the Board has approved the contents. With Board approval, the measure will be added to the ballot in time for the election at the symposium where the members of the Society will decide the outcome.

Results of the election will be announced immediately during the membership meeting and posted on the Society of Nineteenth Century Historians webpage.
