The Symposium also invites papers exploring how newspapers and other publications spread news and stories about the unexplained. Papers and panel presentations will be considered, with author permission, for inclusion in Unexplained! Negotiating the Supernatural in the 19th Century Press.

Partnering with C-SPAN

The Symposium on the Nineteenth Century Press, the Civil War, and Free Expression has not only produced nine book publications, but shared other important content from its annual conference as well. In 2020, the Symposium partnered with C-SPAN for the recording and later broadcast of six panel presentations on a variety of topics also of interest to historians.
